1. Cool it
Leftover milk from the fridge or the freezer can tone down the heat in a spicy curry.
2. Blend it
Add a dash of milk to a smoothie with strawberries, mango, bananas… any fruit you like!
3. Cook it
Milk is a great base for sauces. Got some leftover broccoli? Blitz it with some milk, add some salt and pepper, and heat in a saucepan. It makes a brilliant creamy sauce to add to fish or chicken.
4. Just add leftovers
Milk isn’t just for your cereal or cuppa in the morning. It’s the secret ingredient to loads of recipes – from curries and pies, to soups and smoothies. Here are some of our faves.
- Vegetable Thai Curry
- Cheesy Toast Melts
- Smoked Haddock Lasagne
- West Country Homity Pie
- Leek and Potato Soup
- Spanish Omelette
What else can I do?
Buy only what milk you’ll use. Store it in the fridge at the right temperature (0-5°C) and use up every drop!
